A big weekend for Western Michigan University's hockey team, as they play two with Nebraska-Omaha. The eight ranked Broncos play a weekend series beginning tonight and again tomorrow evening against the last place team in the NCHC.

The Broncos are third in the NCHC, but nipping at the heels of Minnesota-Duluth, with both chasing first place St. Cloud State.

While it is an opportunity again a struggling opponent, when Omaha was at Lawson earlier this season, they split the weekend series with the Broncos. Western winning big on the Friday night game back in early November, and then Omaha stealing the second game.

And history is not in Western's favor. "Omaha leads the all-time series at 25-18-6 and a big 14-6-2 advantage in Omaha. The Broncos are 2-6-0 all-time at Baxter Arena with the last win coming on Feb. 10, 2017."  according to WMU Broncos.com

But as the cliche goes, that was then, and this is now. The Broncos are finally close to being healthy.

The game is also a homecoming for Bronco forward Ethen Frank, who is from Papillion, Nebraska; a suburb of Omaha.
